PSARA Licence & Compliance
The PSARA Act, 2005 makes a state licence mandatory for every private security agency in India. Licence scope is defined district-wise by each state's Controlling Authority — so before hiring any agency in Lucknow, verify its licence number, coverage and validity, and keep the proof on file.

What the PSARA Act Requires
The Act requires agencies to be licensed, to verify and train every guard, to renew licences periodically, and to maintain deployment records. Guards must receive prescribed training and background verification before posting — not after.
How to Verify Any Agency in 5 Steps
- Ask for the PSARA licence number and a copy of the certificate.
- Note the issuing authority, coverage districts and validity dates.
- Cross-check with the state Controlling Authority's records.
- Confirm the licence covers your deployment districts.
- File the copy with your vendor agreement before guards report.
Penalties for Non-Compliance
Operating an agency without a valid licence is an offence under the Act, carrying fines and imprisonment. Clients who knowingly engage unlicensed operators inherit legal and insurance risk with no regulatory recourse.
